MEMO: Newly Recovered Artifact
08/24/2009
After intercepting several complaints about “strange lights” flashing in the abandoned ruins of the Wickham Home for Wayward Boys boarding school in Hemlock, New Hampshire, a team of field agents was dispatched to the location to determine the source of the anomaly. The agents discovered evidence that the grounds had been disturbed recently, citing fresh footprints and lack of dust in areas where objects had been moved.
In a hidden chamber in the basement of the boarding school, the team discovered the source of the light anomaly: an antique kitchen knife. The agents observed that the knife sporadically issued a variety of lights and sounds, projecting images and spoken words like an old film. The item was safely removed from the location and brought to headquarters for further study.
Although the knife hasn’t exhibited any further anomalous effects since being removed from its chamber, our advanced cognitive researchers have confirmed that it remains charged and active, so further tests will be conducted. The full properties of this artifact are unknown, so agents without O1 Artifact clearance are asked to refrain from entering the Research labs until testing has concluded.
Our Digital team has reason to believe that the disturbances at Wickham Home were a result of an investigation conducted by two civilians, Shaun Sanford and Tom Johnson, as part of their online blog (“The Weird Brothers Case Files”). Rather than bring these two in for questioning, I’ve decided that the best course of action would be to monitor their blog for additional anomalous incidents and to place the duo themselves under surveillance. There is a lot we can learn from them if we let them continue their work uninterrupted. Agents are prohibited from making contact with Sanford and Johnson in an effort to preserve the integrity of their investigations.
Please direct any questions about this artifact to my office.
