OFFICIAL REPORT – CONDUIT SF-102
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Threat
LOCATION: Archives Sector SF
Description: Conduit SF-102 is a 4-song EP by the band “Vacant Daybreak,” titled The Demo Tapes. The physical conduit consists of a single CD, a lyrics booklet, and slipcase for the CD, although none of these objects exhibit effects until the CD is played. The lyrics booklet lists 4 tracks that are supposedly included on the EP, although only the first can be played before the conduit’s effects activate:
-
Confessions of a Heartbreak King
-
Jump Into the Sunrise
-
This Hollow Heart
-
I Never Said Goodbye
Known Effects: The audio file for Track 1 cannot be listened to in full, as playing the track causes the audio player to malfunction (and even melt if enough time elapses). Attempts to convert the audio files on the EP to an alternate source have repeatedly failed, with one notable exception: uploading the file to Conduit SA-021 allows Track 1 to play to completion. However, given the fact that files played through Conduit SA-021 exhibit unknown and potentially harmful effects, it is not recommended that this audio file be made available for public consumption. (Any requests to access the complete Track 1 file should be directed to Francis Otte, Head of Security.)
Threat Level: Although the audio component of SF-102 is able to melt solid matter, this effect seems limited to the devices used to play the audio, and only after enough time has elapsed. As a result, this conduit is designated a NON-THREAT.
ADDITIONAL NOTES: SF-102 is perhaps the first conduit to originate from the future, as the lyrics booklet lists the copyright for the EP as 2032. This is further supported by the fact that the band “Vacant Daybreak” does not seem to exist, as we have yet to uncover any information about them. It is speculated that SF-102 was turned into a conduit after being transported to the current era alongside a future wearer of SA–008, although the identity of this wearer is unknown.
For the full transcript of the Track 1 lyrics, as obtained using SA-021, see MISC FILE SA/SF-002. (Note from CK: we still don’t know if the written lyrics exhibit effects of their own or if the conduit’s effects are limited to the audio form, so let’s not risk propagating this. Source redacted until further notice.)
