In an interview with the press this morning, Deputy Officer Walter Henderson informed us that Sheriff Jim Brennan, who has served on the Blackstone Valley police force for 10 years, has resigned due to health complications. Jim Brennan and his wife, Donna, left town yesterday in order to seek medical treatment at a specialized facility in Philadelphia.

“We’re hoping the former sheriff will make a full recovery,” said Officer Henderson. “In the meantime, we’ll continue to follow his example and serve the community.”

Henderson will be stepping up as temporary sheriff until a special election can be held. He asks that everyone respect the privacy of the Brennan family in this difficult time.
